Set Up:
After Bond is done with his meeting with M, he has a walk and talk with Moneypenny and instructs her to drop off some personal affects they recovered from Skyfall to his flat in Notting Hill that night.
This post features photos and a description by Mark Mulcaster, that I spotted on the wonderful Facebook Group, On The Tracks of 007. I reached out to Mark and asked if I could post the photos here on the blog and he kindly agreed. The comparison shots are used for context.
After hitting up the Skyfall roof location the other week we headed over to the Treasury to look around the Drum. There’s some renovation going on so the area wasn’t as clean and tidy as in the film but it’s still quite an impressive building.
They call the courtyard area The Drum because the acoustics are excellent there, if you stand in the middle you can hear even quiet conversation really easily. This did cause issues for production and the scene was ADR’d in post.
The top-down shot of Bond walking across the courtyard was done using a camera mounted on a crane above the building but I was able to get access to part of a balcony that ran around the circumference of the drum and got what photos I could.
The Treasury was also used in a Fast & Furious film but a change of policy meant they stopped granting permission to film productions to hire the locations from what I was told this decision is being revisited so we could see some of these buildings used again in future Bond Productions.
Closest Pint: Recommendations welcome.
