This post features photos and a description by Mark Mulcaster, that I spotted on the wonderful Facebook Group, On The Tracks of 007. I reached out to Mark and asked if I could post the photos here on the blog and he kindly agreed. The comparison shots are used for context.

MARK: I’m lucky enough to have some friends who work in Whitehall and one owed me a favour so to settle up he offered to give me a tour of where he works. So I had an opportunity for a flying visit to the Department of Energy and Climate Change and the Treasury in Whitehall.
He had to clear our roof visit with another department so that they knew not to mistake us for snipers and shoot us. You can see from the BTS pics and my pics that the crew raised the floor level to the height of the wall which makes for a much more visually stunning shot.

I was told that some of the angles were taken with the camera on the top of the outhouse building on top of the roof and these were done at dusk or in the morning to get the sun in the right place. The building opposite has had some building work done where they’ve added a restaurant and taken down some chimneys that were present during the shoot.
Whilst it was a very brief visit it was a fantastic opportunity, we then headed to the treasury and I was able to walk round the “drum” – pics form there to follow shortly!

Good to know: This is also the building where Bond and Madeleine Swann drive off in an Aston Martin DB5 at the end of Spectre. Whilst in Whitehall be sure to find the parking spot for Bond’s V8 in No Time to Die.

Closest Pint: Recommendations welcome.
