The Barbican Centre – ‘Get Bond’ – Quantum of Solace

Barbican Centre
Address: Silk St, Barbican, London EC2Y 8DS

Set Up:

In Quantum of Solace, The Barbican Centre doubles for the MI6 headquarters. Tanner is briefing M on Bond’s progress in Haiti. Tanner has Bond on the phone as Bond gives M a debrief and informs them that Slate was a ‘dead end’.

Barbican Centre

I ventured into the Barbican Centre to try and find this location. It is a large vast building with numerous floors. It has a theatre, a music hall, art galleries, members rooms, a library etc.

The scene that features M and Tanner was shot in the Frobisher Crescent, which looks like a ground floor setting but is actually on the 3rd floor. It’s free to access and the area is now a lot more green than it was in the film. There are trees and wooden flower beds. I guess as it was posing for a government building they didn’t want to make it look a bit more austere.

Vesper anyone?

The Martini Bar is on the 2nd floor and they sell Vespers for £11.50. You don’t have to be a member to drink at the bar and they even do happy hour two-for-one cocktails, at 5pm, for £16.

Prices for membership deals can be found on their website here.

A great deal, although I had just come from the dentist and just had some emergency surgery so was unable to accept the offer. I’d much rather drink here as opposed to Dukes for the price point alone.

Closest Bond Location: Smithfield MarketSkyfall.
