Anastasia and I at The Ritz, London. March 2024

What we drank at The Ritz
We had the recommended Lapsang Souchong. Smokey, tasty, like a cigar storm in a tea cup.

The Experience
This Afternoon Tea experience was kindly gifted to Anastasia and as a birthday present. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience yet felt very antiquated. Although I think that’s the point.
Us Brits sadly don’t have too much else to offer in the culinary department apart from finger sandwiches and scones.

Other mentions:
Featured in the James Bond prequel novel Forever And A Day by Anthony Horowitz.
He bought a flat in Heddon Street close to Piccadilly. They had dinner at the Ritz, and she had access to a doctor in Cavendish Square. Pg157.
And John Pearson’s book The Authorised Biography of 007.
Bond has lunch in the grill room at the Ritz (he loved the grill room at Ritz) with Maddox who had recruited him long ago for the service. Pg 145.
Finally
Albeit, very nice finger sandwiches and scones. The price is currently £165 pounds for 2. Gifting tickets available on the Ritz website. You can order as much as you like although you’re not allowed to box up the sandwiches. You are allowed to box up the cakes, which we did and gave them to the homeless outside. Yes I rob from the Ritz and give to the poor.
